Supervisor Meeting Empty Supervisor Meeting

Post by Miles Wed Jan 11, 2017 10:05 am

As I looked at the script again yesterday and tried to get to work, i noticed, that it is way more complicated than I thought it would be. Therefore I tried to (successfully) arrange a Meeting with my Supervisor, since I got anxious about the February death line.

Thanks to my good communication skills, it did not took us long to be on the same level and to understand what the problem is. I was stuck with the Maps, that the Player can walk on, since he could not exit those. My supervisor tried to understand and to give me some ideas, how i could manage this challenge, but he agreed, that the scripts I chose are more complicated, than he thought they would be. Therefore he suggested me to make a scrolling game instead - a platformer. It is a game, where you have to jump from platform to platform and not to fall down. If you fall down, you are dead. I think that this kind of game can easily be transferred into an RPG as well - that you witness the story while playing.
Since I struggled a bit, to let go from my idea with the RPG, I decided to take three more days to try to handle the scripts. If I couldn't handle them, I will switch to making a platform game in my remaining time.

In hindsight I have to say, that I just had a too fixed mindset about my whole project and that I may overestimated myself. In future I should maybe try to make myself more aware of what I can do and not do.
As my supervisor said, its actually not a "failure", that I got stuck in my progress - it is a sign for me, to develop my personality and experiences more and to more often touch base with my own talents while working on a project. This is something that I really should keep in mind, since it makes everything a lot of easier.
